Resilient Floor Care Cycles Floor care goes in cycles of daily maintenance, periodic scheduled maintenance, light or deep scrubbing and finally stripping and refinishing the floor. Daily Maintenance: the daily maintenance cycle is the key to any successful floor care program. Please note that less distance is required on this cycle (as compared to the other three cycles). Therefore, less labor and less experience. Under daily maintenance you: 1). Dust mop; 2). Damp mop and/or spot clean; 3). Inspect and clean your mats as needed. Keep in mind that for every pound of dust, dirt or grit that gets into your facility, it is going to cost you at least $500 to correct the damage. Periodic Scheduled Maintenance: the periodic scheduled maintenance requires more distance on the cycle than does daily maintenance and, therefore, more labor and expense. The key to labor and cost control is to do the required periodic maintenance and then cycle back into daily maintenance. Always clean the floor before you spray buff, burnish, restore or apply a floor finish and/or floor dressing! This must be done in order to extend the time between stripping operations. Light Or Deep Scrubbing: The idea is to do daily maintenance for as long as you can before performing periodic maintenance. Then do your periodic maintenance and move right back to daily maintenance again. You will reach a point where a light or deep scrub will be necessary. For light scrubbing, use a low foaming cleaner and a red scrub pad. For deep scrubbing, use a stronger low foaming cleaner and a green or blue pad. The light or deep scrub requires more distance on the cycle than does the periodic scheduled maintenance or daily maintenance. Therefore, you will add to your labor and expense. Again, the key to labor and cost control is to cycle back into daily maintenance and periodic maintenance. Stripping Cycle: This is your most costly cycle. The distance required is much greater for the strip cycle. If the other three cycles are properly performed, you can avoid this cycle for a long, long time. Always be certain to gather your cleaning equipment together before proceeding to the area to be serviced. And don’t forget to allow time to clean the janitorial equipment and return it to the storage area when you are done
